The Best Father's or Mother's Day Present

Today, I hit ‘record’ on my phone, and asked my father-in-law these questions:

• How did you meet Mum?
• What’s your best advice about money, life, and happiness?
• What does being a dad mean to you?
• What are you most proud of?
• How would you like to be remembered?

This idea came directly from The Barefoot Investor.

I recorded my mother-in-law’s answers later as well.

I’d been meaning to do this for years, but today I was determined to do it. It’s the last day they are staying with us before they fly back home.

I had put it off for so long because I wanted to get a nice microphone, a proper lighting setup, a good camera and lens. But in the end, I just used my phone and a $20 lapel mic.

I plan to do this with my own parents soon too.

I’m sure these recordings will be invaluable. They already are.
